Weight is the least important number I look at. Before weight, I look at my body fat % and MORE important than THAT is waist circumference, and/or waist to hip ratio. Higher circumference/body fat around the middle is much more of a health threat than "junk in da trunk" or juicy thighs.

Fitness and diet isn't about fitting into a size 6 for my class reunion. It is about being healthy, lovingly caring for my body and enjoying how my body looks and feels, accepting imperfections, scars, stretch marks, etc..., quality of life being high for many years to come, and someday holding my great grandchildren in my arms.

.....and, I hate to say it, but DIET MATTERS, ALOT!! I don't know if I agree that it is 80%, but I do know that ~"You can't out exercise a bad diet." Many people say, "But I eat healthy things!!" That may be so, but if you are gaining weight (or not able to lose), it is a bad diet for you.  Something is NOT working!  Many people like weight watchers, or Metabolic Effect Diet or The 3 apples a Day Diet ...but, Only YOU can figure out the diet that works for YOU. 
The "secret" to MAINTAINABLE weight loss Is out there. What do you think it is?? Low or no carb?? nope. A specific kind of exercise? Nope (althoough successful dieters DO exercise daily)  Is it a vitamin or weight loss shake?? nopity nope nope.

THE Number ONE thing successful dieters do is track their food intake!!

Below is a quote taken from an article in Oct. 2011 SHAPE mag.  I was so excited to see this, since I LOVE to DANCE!!!!  The biggest thing I noticed since doing ZUMBA is getting my waist back!!

Abdominal fat is linked with increased risk for metabolic and heart diseases, which are of major public health concern.I really get into PARTY IN PINK!!

I never thought my waist would get back to this, pre-pregnancy size, 27 1/2 inches! YEA!!!!!

My take on cross fit type exercise/weights etc.... 
I have nothing bad to say about those exercises, but I have to be honest, I don't do them.  So when people tell me I HAVE to lift weights, or want to vomit at the end of my workout etc.... to lose weight or build muscle, I show 'em "the gun show"! LOL! And I tell them I lost 55 lbs with ONLY doing ZUMBA!  You can't argue with me about THAT!  I don't do a lot of other things to avoid the risk of injury and not being able to teach.  Plus, after Zumba my muscles are sore.  I need
to recover before the next class.  I recently added push-ups (done from the wall or counter top. picture and instructions below) to give my arms more definition. I find the squats and lunges that are a part of my Zumba routines build great muscles in my lower body. Dancing naturally works your core. I NEVER do sit-ups or weights, yet I have muscles bigger and more defined than some men!!

.....That said, Do what works for YOU!  I encourage EVERYBODY to build muscle, so weights or boot camp or kettle bells are good TOO! I suggest that you pick something that you enjoy (at least some aspects), because will power will fade if you dread it. There are SOO many FUN ways to get fit! Don't believe people who tell you "their way" is the only way, or the best way. The BEST fitness program is the one you stick with and do consistently.

COUNTER TOP PUSH-UPS are ideal for the time you are waiting for the kettle to boil!
Stand with hands placed on the countertop shoulder width apart. Bend arms and lower chest to within a few inches of the countertop. Press yourself back up to the starting position.
